Current And Former Buckeyes Shine At World Rowing Cup II

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A trio of Ohio State rowers competed at the 2018 World Rowing Cup II from June 21-24 in Linz Ottensheim, Austria. Rising senior Ida Kruse and Buckeye alumnae Holly Norton and Ilse Paulis represented their respective countries, all rowing to Top-Four finishes.

Kruse, racing for Germany, helped the team to a fourth-place finish as part of the Fours with a time of 6:33.750, only three seconds behind first-place Australia. The 2017 Big Ten Rower of the Year, Kruse has led Ohio State to three Big Ten Championships in the past three years. A native of Munster, Germany, Kruse has been a part of the First Varsity Eight for the past two years.

Norton, who graduated in 2015, was a member of the second-place Great Britain team in the 4- race, crossing the finish at 6:32.470. Norton was a two-time NCAA Champion as a member of the 1V8, and helped OSU to its first team titles in program history in 2013 and 2014.

Paulis claimed silver in the lightweight women’s double sculls for the Netherlands, registering a finish at 6:55.630. Paulis was a member of the 2011-12 Buckeye squad and raced with the First Varsity Eight, winning silver at the Big Ten Championships.
