COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 2004 Roy Griak Invitational, Saturday and placed seventh and 24th respectively. The University of Minnesota placed host the event, which featured 25 teams in the Men’s race and 29 teams in the women’s race at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.

The Buckeyes opened competition with the men’s 8-kilometer race where junior Brian Olinger (Fresno, Ohio/Ridgewood) paced the team as he finished 13th. Olinger finished the race in a time of 24:44. Glenn Collins (So., Akron, Ohio/North Canton Hoover) and John Ealy (Fr., Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) also finished in the Top 50 in a race that featured 223 runners throughout the country.

On the women’s side the Buckeyes were led by Chelsea Poling (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview). Poling paced the women’s squad finishing the 5-kilometer race in a time of 22:52 to place 73rd.

Wisconsin captured the men’s title, while Providence captured the women’s title.

The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams return to Ohio, Friday Oct. 9th and compete next in the 2004 All-Ohio Invitational in Delaware, Ohio.
