COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Crew will face FC Dallas in the 2005 U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday, August 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Tickets for the match are $10 general admission, and will go on sale tomorrow (Friday, July 15) at 10 a.m. Tickets can be acquired at the Crew Stadium Box Office, at any area Ticketmaster outlet, via phone at 614-431-3600, or on line at TheCrew.com. A portion of the proceeds will go to both the Connor Senn Memorial Scholarship Fund and The Crew Soccer Foundation. Ohio State students with a valid BUCK-ID will be admitted free. A donation is welcome.
FC Dallas advanced to the Round of 16 with a 3-1 overtime win Wednesday (July 13) over the Wilmington Hammerheads (United Soccer Leagues Second Division).
Possible Crew quarterfinal opponents include D.C. United, the Richmond Kickers (USL1) or the Ocean City Barons (PDL).
The U.S. Open Cup, the U.S. Soccer Federation’s National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It is the oldest annual team tournament in U.S. sports history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor long-time soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
