COLUMBUS, Ohio – Star Allen and Jessica Davenport, of the Ohio State women’s basketball team, addressed approximately 3,500 junior high school students Wednesday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium as a part of Ohio State’s Columbus Public School Day.

Davenport, a junior and reigning two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, and Allen, a freshman, each spoke to the students about the values of education and staying in school. Both graduates of Columbus Independence High School remained at the event to meet with students and faculty from the schools. They also posed for pictures and signed autographs.

Prior to Davenport and Allen speaking, Ohio State Director of Athletics Gene Smith addressed the students before a pair of freshman track and field athletes and Columbus Eastmoor Academy graduates Ayrizanna Favours and Stefan Thomas spoke.

The CPS students completed their day at Ohio State with lunch at the Ohio State baseball game vs. Cleveland State in Bill Davis Stadium.
