COLUMBUS, Ohio – After capturing two medals at the USA Diving Winter Nationals over the weekend, including her second career national championship, Ohio State senior Katie Bell was named the Big Ten Conference’s co-Diver of the Week. Bell shares the award with Minnesota’s Kelci Bryant, who won a national title on three-meter at the Winter Nationals, which were held at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Iowa.

Bell, who had not competed in a year while she recuperated and trained from a shoulder injury at the 2010 Winter Nationals, capped her return to competitive diving with a gold medal performance on the synchronized 10-meter diving event Sunday after winning the silver on the 10-meter platform on Saturday. Bell teamed with Mary Beth Dunnichay from Elwood, Ind., to top the field on the synchronized platform event.

The title was Bell’s second U.S. national championship. She won the 10-meter event in August 2009 in Tallahassee, Fla.

By virtue of her performances, Bell will be able to compete at the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix in May with a chance at qualifying for the U.S. World Championship team.
