COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rifle team (16-5) finished first in smallbore rifle (2,288) and second in air rifle (1,548) to capture the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference championship with a 3,836 aggregate at Michigan State. Akron finished second at 3,800 taking first in air rifle at 1,552 and third in smallbore rifle with a 2,248. The Buckeyes also won the Swanson Trophy (high season average in smallbore rifle) with a 2,265.75 average and the Ranta Trophy (high season average in air rifle) with a 1,548 average.

OSU’s Amanda Furrer won both individual conference championships shooting a 589 in smallbore and a 392 in air rifle.

Five Buckeyes earned WIRC All-Conference honors. In smallbore rifle, Furrer and Nick Novello earned first team honors with James Clark being named to the second team. In air rifle, Furrer and Novello earned first team honors with Jasmine Margaria and Robert Manguadis earning second team honors.
