MESA, Ariz. – The Ohio State women’s golf team is tied for the lead at 1-under after the second round of the Clover Cup Saturday at Longbow Golf Club. Junior Jaclyn Lee followed up an even-par 72 in the opening round with a 3-under 69 and is the individual leader with 18 holes to play.
The Buckeyes are tied for the lead with Arizona State and remain four strokes ahead of third-place Oklahoma.
Lee used a round-best seven birdies against four bogeys to notch her fifth-consecutive around at or below par. Sophomore Adeena Shears is tied for 12th after an even-par 72 while junior Niki Schroeder and sophomore Alex Wright are tied for 20th at 4-over. Senior Rio Watanabe carded a 2-over 74 and is tied for 42nd while freshman Alanis Sakuma, representing Ohio State as an individual, is 85th at 27-over.
n the second round, the Buckeyes tallied 22 birdies, good for second best, and their 36 through two rounds are the most in the field. Ohio State is the second-best in Par-4 scoring at 13-over and tied for third in Par-3 scoring at 5-over.
Individually, Lee is the best in Par-4 scoring at 2-under while Watanabe is tied for fourth in Par-5 scoring at 4-under after a pair of eagles. Schroeder has the second-most birdies through two round with 10 while Lee is tied for third with nine.
