COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team closed out action Friday at the 2011 Big Ten Championships on the par 72, 7465-yard Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. The Buckeyes’ two-round total of 600 (+24) puts the Scarlet and Gray in eighth place with two rounds remaining.

The Ohio State effort was lead by Brad Smith in a tie for 12th. The senior shot rounds of 1-over 73 and 2-over 74 to pace the Buckeyes at 3-over par on a day that saw high scores across the leader board.

Senior Michael Cress and junior Alex Redfield will head into day two tied for 31st. The pair each posted a two-round total of 152 (+8) after firing rounds of 79-73 and 73-79, respectively. Senior Bo Hoag was not far off Cress and Redfield’s pace at 9-over 153. Hoag will head into the third round in a tie for 36th place. Rounding out the lineup for Ohio State was Dan Charen whose 158 was good for a 50th-place tie.

The Buckeyes will be back in action for round three Saturday with tee times beginning at 9:50 a.m.
