COLUMBUS, Ohio – The third-ranked Ohio State men’s gymnastics team swept the Big Ten Weekly Awards for the second time this season after defeating rival Michigan in Ann Arbor Saturday. Redshirt sophomore Sean Melton was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, while Alec Yoder claimed B1G Freshman of the Week honors.

A redshirt sophomore from Orlando, Fla., Melton won the all-around with a score of 87.650, the fifth-best score in the nation this season. He finished first on rings (15.000) and equaled his season-best score of 15.350 on vault, finishing second overall. The score of 15.350 on vault ranks third in the NCAA in 2016.

The award is the second in as many meets for Melton this season and the third overall of his career.

Yoder, a native of Indianapolis, was runner-up to Melton in the all-around with a score of 87.450 that ranks sixth nationally this year. He won two events, scoring season bests on pommel horse (15.350) and parallel bars (15.050). The 15.350 score on pommel ranks fourth in the NCAA this season, while the 15.050 on parallel bars is sixth.

Yoder is the second B1G Freshman of the Week for the Buckeyes this season. Tristan Burke earned the title after winning the all-around at the Windy City Invitational.
