Columbus, Ohio—Ohio State’s pistol team kicked off its season with its annual appearance in the Ohio Cup over the weekend, hosting several local shooters at Converse Hall for a two-day event.

Overall, Ohio State shooters captured five first place finishes during the event. Irina Andrianova took first place in both the women’s air (361) and women’s sport (568), leading to her top finish in the two-gun aggregate (929). Captain Liz Buerling placed second in that with a score of 882 while teammate Kara Moody took third.

Free, standard, and air pistol were shot on the first day of the Cup, and Buckeyes Quentin Cauffman (263) and Anthony McCollum (565) took home first place in the free and air, respectively. McCollum finished in the top-five in all three of those events as well, the only Ohio State shooter to do so. He was also OSU’s top finisher in three-gun aggregate with a score of 1,368.

It was a good start to the season for coach Donna Knisley’s squad. The Buckeyes’ next competition will be Oct. 21-22 in College Station, Texas against Texas A&M. They’ll return home for the Buckeye Open on Nov. 18.
