COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team is in third after three rounds of the 2006 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships in Bloomington, Ind. The Buckeyes shot 296 Saturday and are five shots off the lead with 18 holes to play (293-297-296–886) on the par-72, 6,142-yard Indiana University Championship Golf Course.

Purdue tops the standings with 881 (290-286-295). Michigan State is second at 883 (296-294-293).

Ohio State’s Carling Coffing (So., Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) is tied for third individually at 217 (+1). She fired a 1-under 71 in the third round. Coffing is three strokes off the lead. She is tied with Indiana’s Elaine Harris.

Stephanie Connelly (Fr., Pasadena, Md./The Pendelton School) and Dana Je (Jr., Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) are tied for 13th at 225 for the Buckeyes. Connelly shot even par 72 in the third round. Je carded a 76.

Northwestern’s Alice Kim remains atop the leaderboard at 214. Sara Brown of Michigan State is second, two shots back (216).

The championships conclude Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
