COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team returns to the turf this month to play six exhibition games as part of the 2011 Longstreth Spring League. The Buckeyes will play tough competition, including two teams that participated in the 2010 NCAA Championships.

The Buckeyes, who advanced to their first NCAA Final Four in 2010, will begin action this weekend on the campus of the University of Michigan, playing Michigan State at noon Saturday before taking on the Wolverines at 1:15 p.m. at Phyllis Ocker Field Hockey Field.

The following week, Ohio State travels to Kent State for two games April 9, facing the Golden Flashes at 11 a.m. and Central Michigan at 12:30 p.m. at Murphy-Mellis Field.

The Scarlet and Gray will then close out the spring schedule at home at Buckeye Varsity Field April 16 as the squad hosts Louisville at 10 a.m. and Miami (Ohio) at 1 p.m. in Columbus.

The Buckeyes ended the 2010 season with a program-record 18 wins, a 5-1 Big Ten record, a share of the conference’s regular-season title and advanced to their first NCAA Final Four in program history. In addition, two Ohio State student-athletes (Aisling Coyle and Berta Queralt) earned All-America honors by the NFHCA.
