COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team heads to Knoxville, Tennessee, this weekend for the annual Tennessee Fall Invite. The tournament runs Friday through Sunday, with dual-style singles and doubles play. Ohio State will be joined in the tourney by the host Tennessee Volunteers, Wake Forest and Arizona State.
Friday, the Buckeyes will face Wake Forest in singles at 11 a.m. and then take on Arizona State in doubles at 2 p.m. Saturday, Ohio State matches up vs. Tennessee at 10 a.m. in singles and will play doubles vs. Wake Forest at 1 p.m. Sunday starts with the Buckeyes vs. Arizona State in singles at 9 a.m., with the Buckeyes closing out play at noon in doubles vs. Tennessee.
Last Year at the Tennessee Fall Invite
This is the Buckeyes’ sixth appearance in Tennessee’s fall dual-match style tournament.
Last year, Buckeye Miho Kowase was declared the tournament’s singles champion after going 3-0, including two ranked wins. Combined, the Buckeyes were 11-8 in singles and 10-5 in doubles over the three days.
Last Time Out
Ohio State competed in the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich., last week. Redshirt freshman Shiori Fukuda led the Buckeyes in singles, advancing to the championship match after four wins.
Next up, the Buckeyes are slated to play in the Arizona State Thunderbird and the Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic Nov. 3-5.
