COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team announced its schedule for the 2013-14 campaign Tuesday. Under the direction of Bill Wadley, who is in his 25th season as the men’s swimming head coach, and first-year diving head coach Justin Sochor, the program will host a total of 10 home events at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
“We are excited about the season and our schedule is truly tough and challenging which should help us prepare for an always tough Big ten Conference,” said Wadley.
The season will commence at Kentucky Oct. 11 in a dual meet in Lexington. The annual Scarlet vs. Gray exhibition will be Friday, Oct. 18. With the Alumni vs. Varsity showcase taking place the following day, the opening weekend will offer an opportunity for current student-athletes to welcome back former team members to their alma mater.
Rounding out the month of October, Ohio State plays host in-state Division III powerhouse Kenyon College in a co-ed dual alongside the Ohio State women’s squad (Oct. 25). Last season, the Kenyon men earned the program’s 32nd national title by winning the 2013 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship.
Another co-ed meet will follow Friday, Nov. 1, when Ohio State takes on Virginia Tech, Cleveland State and Denison at home.
From there, the Buckeyes will kick off their Big Ten campaign, traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to face Purdue, Iowa and Northwestern Friday, Nov. 8. A busy weekend for the Bucks, Ohio State also will send a squad to Oxford, Ohio, for a dual with Miami University Saturday, Nov. 9.
The highly competitive Ohio State Invitational is next on the Buckeyes’ agenda. Offering a close to the first half of the season, the annual meet will take place Nov. 22-24 and feature Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, Purdue, as well as Ohio State. Of the five schools competing, each placed in the Top 30 at the 2013 NCAA Championships, while four of the five ranked in the nation’s Top 25.
With classes on hiatus for winter break, Ohio State will venture south to train in Boca Raton, Fla. (Dec. 12-21). The Buckeyes return for the second half of the season with three dual home meets remaining – West Virginia (Jan. 31), Michigan (Feb. 1) and Wright State (Feb. 7). Members of the team will also participate in the Kenyon Winter Invite (Jan. 17-18) as well as a double-dual meet at Eastern Michigan, featuring the Eagles, Buckeyes and Ball State Cardinals.
The regular season concludes with the Ohio State Winter Invitational hosted at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Feb. 8-9.

The Ohio Senior Championships are scheduled for Feb. 28 – March 2 in Oxford, Ohio, while the NCAA Last Chance Meet will take place March 9 in Columbus. Qualified swimmers and divers then have the chance to travel to the 2014 NCAA Championships, taking place March 27-29 in Austin, Texas.
