COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 38-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team improved to 3-0 on the year with a 6-0 victory over Memphis Saturday in a neutral-site match in Columbia, Mo. The match opened a doubleheader for the Buckeyes, who will take on Missouri later in the day.

The Buckeyes stayed undefeated in doubles on the year, winning the doubles point. At No. 1 the Buckeye tandem of Cami Hubbs and Kelsey Haviland downed Ashley Murdock and Marjorie Ondeck, 8-4. At No. 2 Paloma Escobedo and Christina Keesey were 8-2 winners over Dara Taulch and Amanda Brown. At the No. 3 spot Kirsten Flower and freshman Gabby Steele held on for an 8-7 win over Courtney Collins and Kelly Gray.

The Buckeyes won at the top five singles positions, with four straight-set wins. Flower swept Murdock at No. 1, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2 Escobedo was a 6-4, 6-1 winner vs. Collins. At No. 4 Haviland beat Brown, 6-2, 6-3 and Steele posted a shutout 6-0, 6-0 victory over Gray at No. 5. Keesey rebounded after dropping the first set to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 against Ondeck at No. 3. The No. 6 match was suspended with Fidan Manashirova leading Andrea Arques-Garcia, 6-1, 2-1.
