Columbus, Ohio – The 21st ranked (American Volleyball Coaches Association) women’s volleyball team played a scrimmage Sunday in St. John Arena as a warm-up to opening the regular season Friday at the West Virginia Mountaineer Invitational in Morgantown, W.V. The three-set scrimmage had the team playing in different configurations.

Emily Danks, Amy Schwarzwalder and Mari Hole recorded nine kills each with Kaitlyn Leary and Erin Sekinger adding eight each. Danks had a team-high six aces serves with Amanda Peterson adding four. Blocking leaders included Kelli Barhorst, Mariah Booth and Amy Faul with four blocks each with a solo and three assists each. Dig leaders were Hole with 10, Davionna DiSalvatore with nine and Schwarzwalder with eight. At setter, Peterson recorded 35 assists with Taylor Sherwin adding 25.

The Buckeyes open the season next weekend at the West Virginia Mountaineer Invitational in Morgantown, W. V. OSU opens the Invitational Friday, Aug. 25 at 10:30 a.m. against Valparaiso and plays New Hampshire at 5 p.m. Ohio State will face Towson at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 and will play host West Virginia at 7:30 p.m.
