COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off a run to the NCAA semifinals last season, Ohio State Director of Tennis Ty Tucker and his team have reloaded and are primed for an even deeper run in 2018. The Buckeyes open the season at No. 2 in the Oracle/ITA Rankings.
Ohio State fell to eventual national champion Virginia in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament last season which was hosted by Georgia. The Buckeyes also finished runner-up in the National Indoor Team Championships last February, falling to Virginia in that event as well.
This season, the Buckeyes are ranked No. 2 behind Wake Forest, which is hosting the NCAA Championships in May. Since 2005, Tucker and the Buckeyes have advanced to at least the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament and have been ranked in the top-5 of the rankings.
Ohio State opens the 2018 season on Saturday, Jan. 20, by hosting Xavier and Cleveland State. The match with the Musketeers begins at 10 a.m. followed by the Cleveland State match at 2 p.m.
