Buckeyes Open Spring Slate by Topping Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. — The No. 23 Ohio State University women’s golf team began the 2017 calendar year by picking up an 18-hole match victory over Florida Atlantic. In the `play 5, count 4′ event played at the Bocaire Country Club, Ohio State recorded a 10-over 298 while the Owls came in at 319 (+31).

The top five scorers were all Buckeyes, paced by a trio of Jessica Porvasnik, Rio Watanabe and Alex Wright each posting 71. Porvasnik was crowned individual champion on scoreboard tiebreaker criteria. A total of 14 competitors hit the course as both schools fielded a pair of individuals in addition to their lineups.

Wright was a Buckeye individual, alongside fellow freshman and fourth-place finisher Adeena Shears (74). Katja Pogacar rounded out the top-5 by shooting a 4-over 76.
