COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University pistol program opened the 2017-18 season by topping Akron and Purdue. The Buckeyes accumulated a final score of 6,381 to best Akron (6,157) and Purdue (5,581) in the first competition of the year. Buckeye junior Anthony McCollum paced all competitor with an overall tally of 1,617.
Ohio State garnered the top score in all three team disciplines, posting marks of 2,237 (air), 2,026 (free) and 2,118 (standard) while Akron placed second in each.

While McCollum was the top male Buckeye performer, Irina Andrianova led the way for the women’s side. The 2017 national champion for women’s sport pistol recorded scores of 370 (air) and 554 (sport), both representing the highest mark.
