AUBURN, Ala. – The Ohio State women’s track and field opened competition at the Tiger Track Classic Friday afternoon at Auburn University.

Maggie Mullen took first-place in the javelin by more than four meters over Mississippi State’s Allison Storey, with the winning mark hitting 45.32m (148-08), the second-best toss in the Big Ten this season behind her own mark of 48.30m (158-05) set last weekend at the Raleigh Relays.

Freshman Alexis Thomas set a personal record in the hammer throw finals, finishing in fifth place at 53.16m (174-05), the third-best toss in the Big Ten this season. Mullen finished in eighth with a throw of 50.72m (166-05), seventh-best in the conference. Kentucky’s Kristin Smith won the competition with a mark of 60.05m (197-00), the fifth-best Division I toss this outdoor season.
