COLUMBUS, Ohio —
The No. 11 Ohio State men’s lacrosse team kicks off its 2016 season with a game at Furman at noon Saturday in Paladin Stadium in Greenville, S.C.

Home Opener Next Week inside WHAC
The Buckeyes will begin their home schedule vs. Detroit at noon Feb. 13 inside Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Seating is limited inside WHAC and games are expected to sell out before prior to game day; fans are encouraged to prepurchase tickets to guarantee a spot. Single game tickets can be purchased online at OhioStateBuckeyes.com/tickets prior to game day.

In addition, a Power Pair is available for $15 and includes a ticket to the Buckeyes’ first two games (Detroit Feb. 13, UMBC Feb. 27) and an Ohio State scarf. The deal must be purchased online prior to gameday HERE.

For Openers
The game Saturday marks the earliest day for the Buckeyes to open a season. The teams in 2015 and 2009 both started their campaigns Feb. 7 against Detroit. This is the third year in a row the Buckeyes are kicking off the season with a road game. The 2015 campaign began at Detroit and the 2014 team started its season at Johns Hopkins.

Under head coach Nick Myers, the Buckeyes are 5-2 in the first game of the season. All-time, Ohio State is 25-37-1 in season openers.

Brown, Carey and Haus Recognized by B1G, Ohio State Third in Preseason Poll
Attackman Carter Brown, defenseman Robby Haus and goalie Tom Carey were named Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch entering the 2016 season, the B1G announced Monday. Brown was a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2015, while Haus and Carey both were honorable mention all-conference selections a season ago.

In the preseason poll, Ohio State was voted third by the league’s coaches, behind Johns Hopkins and Maryland. Penn State was fourth, followed by Michigan and Rutgers.

Paladin Points
Saturday will be the first meeting between Ohio State and Furman.

Furman’s inaugural Division I season was 2014. The squad was picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference preseason coaches poll this season and Furman goalkeeper Reilly McDermott earned a spot on the SoCon preseason all-conference team. Last season the Paladins were 4-9, averaging 7.23 goals a game and allowing 9.23 a contest.

The game between the Buckeyes and Paladins is one of the first in Division I this season. Air Force at Navy starts the campaign at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by Ohio State vs. Furman, NJIT at Lehigh and Robert Morris at Penn State at noon.

In the Polls
In the preseason polls, the Buckeyes were No. 11 in the USILA rankings and No. 13 in the Lacrosse Magazine and Face-Off Yearbook preseason polls. In the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll released by Inside Lacrosse Monday, Ohio State was ranked 12th.

Haus, Kapinos and Pfister Selected Buckeye Captains
Seniors Robby Haus and Kacy Kapinos and redshirt junior Tyler Pfister were selected by their teammates to serve as captains for the 2016 Buckeye squad.

Haus has started all 50 games of his Buckeye career and has 100 career groundballs and 38 caused turnovers. Kapinos has played in 43 games and has 33 groundballs, 10 caused turnovers, two goals and 38 faceoff wins. Pfister has been limited to 25 games because of injury and has 14 points, with nine goals and five assists, in his career.

All three have been recognized as Ohio State Scholar-Athletes and named to the Academic All-Big Ten team.

The March 26 game vs. Notre Dame in Ohio Stadium is part of the #Brutus50 Bobblehead promotion. A ticket ($20) includes both a ticket to the game and a Brutus Bobblehead that is available only to fans who prepurchase a ticket and pick up the bobblehead at that game. To purchase, click HERE.

Group tickets are also on sale now. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are available for $4 each when purchased prior to game day. Tickets for the Showdown in the Shoe doubleheader with the Buckeye football spring game are $5 each and $4.50 each for groups of 50 or more, with all tickets general admission.
