COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members on the Ohio State men’s soccer team were named to the 2016 All-Ohio Division I team, the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association announced Tuesday. Sophomore Abdi Mohamed was named a first team selection, while senior Danny Jensen and junior Nate Kohl earned second team honors. Joining Jensen and Kohl on the first team Academic All-Ohio list was senior Tyler Kidwell.
Mohamed, from Worthington, Ohio, adds to his postseason awards list after earning second team All-Big Ten honors last month. The OSU midfielder finished with 11 points on four goals and three assists in 16 games played.
Jensen, from Weston, Fla., was named to All-Ohio list for the second time in his Ohio State career. He also registered 11 points on four goals and three helpers in 13 starts this past fall. Jensen was named to the Academic All-Ohio list for the third straight year. He was named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate.
Kohl, a native of Dublin, Ohio, earns his second postseason honor following his second team All-Big Ten performance in 2016. He led the Buckeyes with 14 points on six goals and two assists in 17 appearances in his first season with the Scarlet and Gray. Kohl garners Academic All-Ohio honors for the first time after being named an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Kidwell, also from Dublin, Ohio, was named to the Academic All-Ohio list for the second-consecutive season. Kidwell played in 15 games with 14 starts in the OSU backfield and was also named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate. Kidwell earned his third straight Academic All-Big Ten selection last month.
