COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team has signed Luke Smigliani for the 2018-19 season, head coach Rustam Sharipov announced Thursday. A native of Hanover, Mass., Smigliani comes to Ohio State from Ellis School of Gymnastics.
“I chose Ohio State because it felt like home and where I’d always dreamed of being since I first stepped on campus,” Smigliani said. “At Ohio State, second place never feels good enough. I love that atmosphere and that every sport is determined to be the best and compete for national championships. I’m looking forward to being a part of something and representing something much bigger than myself.”
The 2018 BlackJack National champion in the all-around and pommel horse, Smigliani, placed third on rings and seventh in the all-around at nationals. Smigliani, who also tied to win the all-around at BlackJack Nationals two years ago, owns a career best score of 81.600.
