COLUMBUS, Ohio – Opening with a team score of 308 on the par 72, 6,208-yard Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C., the Ohio State women’s golf team is currently in sixth place and one stroke back from breaking into the Top 5 at the 10th-annual Landfall Tradition.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament which features six teams in the Top 25 of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings is led by Auburn with a score 297.

Leading the Buckeyes is junior Susana Benavides. Benavides, from Cochabamba, Bolivia, opened the tournament with a score of 74 to sit in a tie for sixth.

Notching back-to-back birdies on hole Nos. 7 and 8, senior Vicky Villanueva is tied for 26th after a round of 77.

One stroke apart is the Buckeye pair of junior captain Amy Meier and freshman Kendall Prince. Meier fired a score of 78 to tie for 32nd, while Prince carded a round of 79 to tie for 47th.

Rounding out the Buckeye lineup is junior Rachel Rohanna who is tied for 53rd after a round of 80.

Round two of the competitive tournament will take place tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
