January 15, 1999 – The Ohio State men’s and womens track team travels to New York City Saturday to compete in the New York Sports Museum Collegiate Invitational, held at the 168th Street Armory and hosted by St. John’s University.

COMPETING TEAMS The Buckeyes will be competing against Fordham University, George Mason University, Seton Hall University, the University of Washington and St. Johns University, which is designated as the host school.

OHIO STATE INVITATIONAL RECAP The Buckeyes hosted their season opening meet last weekend in Columbus, the Ohio State Invitational. On the mens front, sophomore Andrew Pierce, a Yellow Springs, Ohio native, paced the men’s squad with victories in the 200-meter dash and the 400- meter dash and he anchored the Buckeyes winning effort in the 4×400 relay. Pierce emerged victorious in the 400 with a time of 47.07 and in the 200 with a time of 21.84. Senior Joe Callie (E. Sparta, Ohio), won the long jump with a distance of 717 meters. The Buckeye women fared exceptionally well in their first meet of the season, taking home first place finishes in five events. In the 200 meter dash, Ohio State had the top three finishers-Dominque Calloway (Jr., Aurora, Colo.), Donica Merriman (So., Trotwood, Ohio) and Monique Coleman (Sr., New York, N.Y.). Merriman also won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70. Desiree Jones (So., Akron, Ohio) paced the field in the long jump with a leap of 5.6 meters. Cathy Rejouis (Sr., Calgary, Alberta) and Rhondalynn Crawford (Fr., Cleveland, Ohio) led the field in the 400-meter dash with times of 57.97 and 1:00.04, respectively for Ohio State, who also won the 4×400 meter relay in 3:50.81.
