COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team travels east for a scrimmage vs. North Carolina Sunday, part of the MRB “Thumbs Up” weekend. The Buckeyes and Tar Heels will face off at 10 a.m. Sunday at Calvert Hall College High School (8102 LaSalle Rd., Towson). Admission is $5 and proceeds from the game will be donated to the MRB Scholarship Fund at Ohio State.
The Michael R. Breschi Memorial Scholarship, one of the largest memorial endowed scholarships in the Ohio State Department of Athletics, was created in memory of Michael Breschi, the son of former Ohio State lacrosse coach Joe Breschi and his wife, Julie, who passed away tragically in March 2004 when he was just 3 years old. The Michael Robert Breschi Scholarship is given to a senior lacrosse player every year who best exemplifies the spirit of Michael. The scholarship recipient for this season will be announced following the game Sunday.
The Buckeyes will close their fall ball schedule next weekend when they face Lehigh at 2 p.m. PT Oct. 21 in the San Francisco Fall Lacrosse Classic at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, Calif. The event is hosted by the Bay Area Youth Sports Foundation and all revenue from the game will benefit a variety of innovative sports and education programs for underserved children in the Bay Area.
