COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State shot a final round 284, its lowest of the season, but dropped a spot to fifth at the Big Ten Men’s Golf Tournament at the Les Bolstad/University of Minnesota Golf Course.

The Buckeyes were fourth after three rounds but Wisconsin (292-289-294-281=1,156) fired a 281 Sunday to edge the Buckeyes (287-292-294-284=1,157) for fourth.

Ohio State was led by Chris Emanuel (So., Ottumwa, Iowa), who finished ninth with rounds of 72-72-71-70=285, and Albert Hromulak (Sr., Johnstown, Pa.) who was just a stroke back at 286 (73-70-72-71) to tie for 10th.

Ohio State played in the event with three freshmen (David Wagenseller of Wilmington, Ohio, Jason Oien of Westerville Ohio and Ryan Dennis of Stow, Ohio), a sophomore (Emanuel) and one senior (Hromulak). Oien was playing in his first tournament of the year.

Northwestern earned the Big Ten title, edging Minnesota, the host of the tournament. The Wildcats shot rounds of 284-281-284-282=1,131 to capture the championship.

Michael Harris, Michigan (69-70-68-71=278) and Larry Nuger, Illinois (68-69-71-70=278) tied for medalist honors.

The season has ended for the Buckeyes but Ohio State will host the 21-team NCAA Men’s Central Regional beginning Thursday at the OSU Scarlet Course. Practice rounds begin Wednesday at 8 a.m. The final of three rounds will be held Saturday. The first group will tee off at 7:30 a.m. each day Thursday through Saturday.
