COLUMBUS, Ohio — Late power play opportunities were not enough for the Ohio State women’s hockey team to defeat St. Cloud State University on Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes (7-16-0, 3-14-0 WCHA) fell by a score of 2-1 against SCSU (11-8-2, 7-8-2 WCHA).
The first period started off with a series of strong shots from Ohio State, including a close one to the crossbar by defenseman Dani Sadek. Ohio State went on the power play just after two minutes into the period when St. Cloud State University’s Kelsey Saelens drew a tripping penalty. Special teams were unable to convert, but continued to dominate the shots throughout the period, 10-3.

In the second period, the Buckeyes scored an equalizer at 8:29 after back and forth play. Junior center Julia McKinnon garnered her third goal of the season on a rebound shot just after defenseman Cara Zubko sent the puck to the net.
