COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite a season-high 14 saves from senior goalie Brandon Freeman, the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team was defeated by Robert Morris (4-0), 12-7, Tuesday afternoon in Moon Township, Pa. Freshmen Dominique Alexander led the Buckeyes (3-2) with two goals in the game, with senior James Green and freshmen Logan Schuss and Jeff Tundo chipping in a goal and an assist each. Freshman Trey Wilkes won 18 faceoffs against the Colonials, with a career-best seven groundballs.

Ohio State returns home to take on Albany at noon Saturday. The game is scheduled to be played outdoors in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Robert Morris opened the game with five goals in the first 7:50 to jump out to a 5-0 led. Kyle Buchanan started the scoring at 13:29, with Keith Lee tallying 1:06 later (12:23). Trevor Moore and Taylor Graves scored 59 seconds apart (10:10 and 9:11) and Moore added another goal at 7:10. Alexander put Ohio State on the board at 5:54, assisted by Green. Freshman Logan Schuss, the ECAC Rookie of the Week the last two weeks, followed with a score with 1:54 left in the opening quarter, tallying off an assist from Mario Ventiquattro, who picked up ECAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades Monday. Freeman had four saves in the quarter.

The Buckeyes drew within two (5-3) when Ventiquattro tallied at 11:31 of the second quarter, assisted by Tundo. The teams combined for three goals in 1:04 to put the Colonials ahead 7-4. Alexander scored for the Buckeyes at 9:01, sandwiched between goals from Patrick Smith at 9:47 and Casey Abbott at 8:43. The final goal of the half came from Corbyn Tao-Brambleby with 3:20 remaining, as the teams went into halftime with the Colonials holding an 8-4 lead.

Robert Morris led 10-5 after three quarters. At 11:47 Taylor Caparosa scored to make it 9-4 RMU. At 5:34 Green scored for the Buckeyes and Tao-Brambleby added his second of the game for the Colonials at 2:10. Freeman made six saves in the stanza

Mike Pires made the score 10-7 with 11:59 left in the fourth quarter with a man-up tally, assisted by Schuss. Tao-Brambleby completed his hat trick with 9:00 on the clock and Moore extended the Colonials’ lead to five (12-7) with 5:25 remaining.

Ohio State and Wilkes won 18-of-23 faceoffs in the game. His seven groundballs were a team high.

Robert Morris outshot the Buckeyes, 38-29, in the game. Freeman made 14 saves while playing all 60 minutes, the fourth time this year he had double-digit saves. Dillon Pope had 11 stops for the Colonials.

Postgame Notes
Tundo Schuss and Green lead the team with eight goals each. Schuss is first with 17 points and nine assists.

The two goals were a career high for Alexander.

Green has two points in four of five games this year.

Green, Pires, Schuss, Alexander and Tundo all have at least one point in each game this year. Ventiquattro is on a four-game point streak.
