West Lafayette, Indiana –
Ohio State dropped a 2-1 Big Ten decision to host Purdue Sunday afternoon.
Ohio State got on the scoreboard first, on a header by Liz Sullivan off a corner cross in the 19th minute, her first score of the season. The goal was assisted by Megan Fuller and Kiiri Kuld. Purdue countered with a pair of goals before halftime, in the 35th minute by Kellie Phillips and in the 38th minute by Kaitlyn Blacha.
Neither team scored in the second half, but the Buckeyes came close when a header by Tiffany Cameron found the net, but was waved off by the game official who called a foul on a collision between Cameron and Purdue goalkeeper Clara Kridler. Ohio State keeper Katie Baumgardner had two saves, while Kridler recorded four.
Ohio State is now 8-5-1 and 3-2-1 in Big Ten action. The Buckeyes host Iowa Friday evening and Nebraska Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Admission is free.
