COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team fell, 7-1, at No. 7 North Dakota in game two of a WCHA series in Grand Forks, N.D.
Offensively, Ohio State (3-2-1) was led by senior forward Laura McIntosh, who scored a goal early on in the first period. McIntosh now has 139 career points, which is third on the OSU career points list. The native of Waterloo, Ontario, McIntosh is now seven points shy from tying former Buckeye Jeni Creary (2002-05) for second in the program record books with 146 career points.
However, the Fighting Sioux answered quickly to tie the game, 1-1, following their own penalty kill at 8:51 when Monique Lamoureux-Kolls, who led the squad with three goals, sent a shot into the back of the net. North Dakota then posted two additional goals to take a 3-1 lead heading into the locker room in the first intermission.
North Dakota continued to put the pressure on, collecting four additional goals in the following two periods. The Fighting Sioux held a 34-20 lead in shots.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Knapp falls to 1-1-1 on the season, claiming 27 saves against North Dakota.
The Buckeyes continue their road schedule next week at Minnesota State Oct. 28-29 in Mankato, Minn. The game Friday will begin at 8:07 p.m. ET, while game two is set to start at 4:07 p.m. ET.
