COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Brent Darby scored 16 points – half during a%^$second-half 19-0 run – and Terence Dials scored a career-high 15 points and led%^$a first-half spurt as Ohio State beat UNC-Greensboro 85-54 Saturday.%^$

The Buckeyes (8-2), playing their last tuneup before beginning Big Ten play%^$at Purdue on Wednesday, had lost two of their last three games.%^$

Sean Connolly scored 11 points and Brian Brown added 10 for Ohio State.%^$Brown became the 40th Buckeye player to top 1,000 points in his career.%^$

Ronnie Taylor topped the Spartans (6-4) with 12 points with David Schuck%^$adding 11.%^$

Ohio State led 42-38 at the 17:24 mark of the second half after a%^$three-point play by UNC-Greensboro’s Luke Boythe. By the time the Spartans%^$scored again – on Schuck’s shot inside with 10:45 left – the Buckeyes had built%^$a 61-38 lead.%^$

Darby, whose starting job was in jeopardy after a string of bad games, had%^$eight points in the surge including a pair of 3-pointers. Dials scored five%^$points in a row on a three-point play and a reverse layup.%^$

He hit a follow of his own miss and was fouled on his first trip down the%^$floor, then added an 8-foot bank shot and two more inside shots as the Buckeyes%^$turned a 14-12 lead into a 23-17 lead.%^$
