COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State hockey seniors goalie Dave Caruso and forward Jana Harrigan competed in the inaugural Frozen Four Skills Challenge last Friday at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis. The event included 32 senior student-athletes divided into East and West teams, with eight males and eight females on each roster. The East won the competition with a 10-9 victory following a sudden-victory shootout.

Caruso, from Roswell, Ga., was one of two male goalies on the West team. In his first event, rapid fire, he stopped 21-of-24 shots, including all eight in his final round, to finish second. He also participated in the penalty shot, making one save in the first round. The teams ended the penalty-shot competition tied, sending the event into a sudden-victory shootout. In the extra round, Caruso stopped the only shot he faced.

Harrigan, a native of Burlington, Ontario, participated in three events. She finished second in the hardest shot and was one of just three women to convert her penalty shot, earning a point for the west squad. She also competed in the rapid fire.

The Skills Challenge participants attended the semifinal and national championship games, as well as were part of the NCAA YES clinic Saturday morning.
