COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team concluded a difficult second round at the Puerto Rico Classic Monday, finishing in 13th place on the par 72, 6,945-yard River Course at the Rio Mar Resort in San Juan, P.R. The Buckeyes ended the day with a score of 296 to bring their two-day total to 591 (+15).

The Scarlet and Gray were led by a bounce back performance from senior Bo Hoag, who fired a 1-under 71. After a roller-coaster opening round Monday, the Upper Arlington, Ohio, native played consistent golf through the second round, hitting a pair of birdies late to move him 26 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 30th place with a two-day total of 146.

Brad Smith started the day off with a series of pars, but a difficult seven-hole stretch that included two bogeys and a double-bogey helped drop the senior into a tie for 46th place with a 7-over 79. Michael Cress finished the round in a tie for 52nd place after a 3-over 75 performance. The Dublin, Ohio, native began to struggle as the day waned, but a couple of late birdies helped the senior regain composure and finish the day on a high note.

Round two got off to an inauspicious start for Zach Sobel as the sophomore notched a double-bogey on the opening hole. Sobel showed poise the rest of the way, however, nailing two  birdies in the final four holes to put him in a tie for 66th after a round of 2-over 74. Rounding out the lineup for the Buckeyes was junior Dan Charen whose 4-over 76 day put him into 68th place.

Ohio State will tee off for the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic at 6:30 a.m. EST Tuesday.
