COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University women’s golf team posted a 1-over 289 in Tuesday’s Round Two, matching No. 12 South Carolina’s 289 for the best round of the tournament through two days. Ohio State (+15 overall) leaped No. 5 Florida State (+21) in the team standings and inched within a lone stroke of event leader and fourth-ranked Florida (+14). These three squads will play together again in the final round after doing so in round number two.
Three Buckeyes shot par or better, combining with a Katja Pogacar 75. Niki Schroeder and Rio Watanabe threw up red-colored 71’s while Jaclyn Lee came in at even par to earn a share of second place among 96 players through 36 holes. Lee opened the week carding a 73 and is parallel to Michigan’s Elodie Van Dievoet at 145 – both nipping at the heels of 12th-ranked Maddie Szeryk (Texas A&M) and her 143 sum (-1).
Pogacar and Schroeder are co-owners of 14th place (149) and Watanabe is tied for 18th (150). Schroeder bogeyed the opening hole on Tuesday before registering par or better for each of the remaining 17 holes. By pacing the Scarlet & Gray with 71’s, Schroeder and Watanabe jumped 22 and 25 slots up the individual leaderboard, respectively.
Ohio State is besting the entire field in both Par 4 (+19) and Par 5 (-3) scoring, but ranked just T-13th with an 11-over ledger on Par 3’s. The Buckeyes are slotted first on 117 pars and tied for second with 21 total birdies.
