COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State synchronized swimming team hosted Alabama-Birmingham and Keuka College, kicking off the 2001 season in the OSU Tri-Meet. The meet began at 7 a.m. at Larkins Hall in the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center of OSU campus. Ohio State took first place with the final score of 102 over Alabama-Birmingham in second with 77 and Keuka College in third with 66.5.
Victoria Bowen (So., Plano, Texas), continuing on her first-place streak from last season, once again took first place in the solo, scoring 93.4. Twins, Carolina Moraes (Jr., Sao Paulo Brazil) and Isabela Moraes (Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) who competed together in duet competition at the 2000 Olympics took first place in the duet at the Tri-Meet, scoring 93.0. The Moraes Twins accompanied by Mary Hofer (Jr., Spring Valley, Calif.) won first place in the trio event with the score of 95.467.
Up next the team will travel for competition against Alabama-Birmingham again on Feb. 3 at the Blazer’s home pool, the Bell Aquatic Center.
