COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., Thursday. Sophomore Chase Buchanan advanced in the singles tournament, while also moving  forward with freshman Dino Marcan in the doubles bracket.

In singles, the seventh-seeded Buchanan downed No. 34 Ryan Lipman of Vanderbilt 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 in the Round of 32.  The Big Ten Athlete of the Year, Buchanan claimed his 31st win of the season with the victory Thursday. He has won 22 of his last 23 matches and will take on 11th-ranked Michael Shabaz of Virginia Friday.

In a Top 10 matchup, ninth-ranked Buchanan and Marcan defeated 10th-ranked Tim Puetz and Alexander Stamchev of Auburn 7-5, 6-3. The Buckeye pair improves to 21-3 overall this season, winning its 12th match of the season over a nationally-ranked pair. The two Buckeyes will now face No. 22 Iain Atkinson and Steven Forman of Wake Forest Friday.

Senior co-captain Justin Kronauge concluded his historic Buckeye career after dropping a 6-4, 6-2 decision to fifth-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State. Kronauge, who finished his final year with a 36-4 overall record, holds multiple program records including most career singles wins (147), most career doubles wins (128) and most combined wins with 275 victories.
