Daniel Wetterich is coming off his second straight Top-10 performance and has paced the Ohio State men’s golf team in three consecutive events. He and the rest of the Buckeyes will compete on the Scarlet Course this upcoming weekend (Apr. 22-23), hosting the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. Wetterich is a first-year sophomore for the Scarlet & Gray after transferring from Xavier following his First Team All-Big East and conference freshman of the year accolades in 2015-16.
Do you have any pre-tournament superstitions or rituals?
I have to listen to my own music on the car ride over to the course.
What is the hardest thing about golf?
The randomness that comes with every shot.
How do you balance athletics and academics?
Being disciplined on where you need to spend your time is crucial to balancing academics and athletics. Also, communicating with your professors is very important.
What is your major and why did you choose it?
Finance, I like money.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
I would say either Younkin or my room.
What is your favorite class you have taken here so far?
Stats 1430 because I finally understand it after taking it in high school.
What is a fun fact about you that not many people know about?
I played against Jon Rahm in the Round of 16 in the US Amateur in 2015.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oreo cookies and milk.
Who do you most admire and why?
My dad, he is the most assertive person that I know and is very wise.
Describe OSU in one word.
What was your favorite experience at OSU?
Hitting my first tee shot with the team the first time I set foot on the Scarlet Course as a Buckeye.
