COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Randy Monahan was named the Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week for the week of Feb. 1. Monahan shares the award with Justin Spring of Illinois. Monahan’s conference honor was awarded following his performance against Illinois Jan. 31 at St. John Arena.

Monahan (Jr., Elizabethtown, Pa.) placed first in the all-around with a 55.350, his second-highest tally this season behind the NCAA record of 56.50 he set earlier this year. Monahan completed the competition with a career-high 9.750 on floor to finish first. Setting another career high on rings (9.7), Monahan claimed that event as well.

Monahan also posted a third-place finish on high bar with a score of 9.550.

Members of No. 1 Ohio State are scheduled to compete in the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup Challenge Feb. 6-7. Jamey Houle (Sr., Enfield, Conn.), Willie Ito (Fr., Huntington Beach, Calif.), Monahan and Cody Trobaugh (Jr., Dallas, Texas) will represent the Scarlet and Gray, along with former Buckeyes Raj Bhavsar and Blaine Wilson. Start time for session I will begin at 12:30 p.m. EST and 5 p.m. EST for session II.

Ohio State returns home when it faces No. 2 California and No. 4 Oklahoma in its first tri-meet of the season at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at St. John Arena.
