COLUMBUS, Ohio – Miles Avery, Ohio State head men’s gymnastics coach, announced Monday the signing of DJ Bucher and Michael Marino to NCAA National Letters of Intent to enroll in Ohio State and compete for the Buckeyes beginning in Fall 2004.

Bucher, a native of Mason, Ohio, competes for Queen City Gymnastics, where is he is coached by Keith Pettit. In 2002, Bucher earned a spot on the senior national team after finishing ninth at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. He will be the highest-ranked U.S. Senior National Team member to attend Ohio State out of high school. This past summer, Boucher returned to competition after an injury, placing 21st at the national championships in the senior division. Boucher was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team from 1997-02.

Marino, who hails from Ellington, Conn., trains at Tim Daggett’s Gold Medal Gymnastics, where he is coached by 1984 Olympic Gold medalist Tim Daggett. He qualified for the 2003 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, where he placed 12th in the junior elite division.
