Share

In early August, new ice was installed in The Schott.

The 2018-19 Buckeyes met as a team for the first time Monday (Aug. 20). Coaches and support staff – including compliance, athletic training, nutrition, athletic communications, equipment, strength and conditioning, academics, sport administration and the faculty athletics representative – all spoke to the team.

Following the meeting, the team gathered for a meal in the Schottenstein Center.

Tuesday (Aug. 21) was back to school for the Buckeyes as Autumn Semester started at Ohio State.

The 21 returning Buckeyes all are keeping their numbers from last season. The eight newcomers will debut the numbers above this year.

August 10, more than 50 hockey alums and other friends of the program gathered at Ohio State’s Scarlet Golf Course for the annual golf outing.  It was a beautiful day full of fun and fellowship. The winning team included Buckeye alums Bill Davidge and John Mowat.

Senior John Wiitala traveled to Puerto Rico with a group from the department of athletics on a service learning trip. The group worked with Soles4Souls, distributing shoes to and spending time with children in the community, while also working on rebuilding efforts.

A series has continued through the summer looking back at the wins from 2017-18. Win No. 20 was posted to close out August. Still to come are the final six victories, leading to the Frozen Four.

At Ohio State Summer Commencement, 2018 senior and alternate captain Luke Stork received his degree in sport industry. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native, was an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten selection and a Bucks Go Pro intern. He signed with the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays to begin his professional career in 2018-19.

Stork is the fifth (of six) member of the Class of 2018 to earn his degree. Christian Lampasso is slated to receive his degree in industrial and systems engineering following autumn semester.

The Buckeyes hosted two summer camps during the summer, with a session for individuals and a team camp. A great time was had by all – campers and counselors!

The Buckeyes’ season kicks off in less than 50 days! The campaign opens on the road at Arizona State Oct. 12-13 before the home-opening series Oct. 19-20 vs. UMass.
