Julie Broms surpassed Big Ten competitors in the 3-meter diving event, claiming the Big Ten title with a season-best 583.45 points, the highest score in Ohio State history. Broms, a native of Springfield, Ill. (North Central), defeated Indiana diver Christina Loukas by three points. Loukas already had won the 1-meter event. Broms came into the event in third the place after scoring 534.55 points in the preliminary round.

Nicole Maglich (Jr., Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) continued her success at the Big Ten meet, placing eighth in the 200-yard freestyle. Maglich hit the wall in 1:49.13, claiming her third NCAA `B’ consideration time in the same amount of days. Maglich previously recorded an NCAA `B’ qualifying time in the 200-yard freestyle for her contribution to the 800-yard freestyle relay on Wednesday. Her second `B’ time came in the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday, in which she swam to a fourth-place finish.

Stephanie Fennell (So., Cambellville, Ontario/Milton District) qualified for the consolation finals with a preliminary time of 56.85. Fennell went on to finish 11th with a lifetime-best time of 56.99. The Buckeye relay team swam to a season-best time of 3:47.85 in the 400-yard medley relay, taking eighth place. In the 400-yard individual medley, freshman Samantha Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio/Hawken) was the highest placing Buckeye, clocking a lifetime-best time of 4:32.03 to finish 23rd.

Gulsah Gunenc (So., Edirne, Turkey/Edirne Anatolian) hit the wall in a season-best time of 56.26 to place 20th in the 100-yard butterfly. Rebekah Rychvalsky (So., Sydney, Australia/Castle Hill) recorded a time of 1:05.30 to place 20th in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Buckeyes recorded seven lifetime-best and three season-best times during competition Friday, bringing the total to 14 lifetime-best and nine season-best times during the meet.

Ohio State moved into ninth place with 141 points, four points ahead of Illinois. Through 14 events, Penn State leads Indiana in the overall standings, 485-340. The Big Ten championships conclude Saturday.
