The Buckeye Club hosted the 2011 Coaches Kickoff at the Griggs Reservoir Boathouse on Thursday, Aug. 4, with approximately 100 members of the 110% Team in attendance.
Buckeye Club supporters spent the evening mingling with 8 members of the Ohio State Coaching Staffs, as well as Athletics Director and Associate Vice President, Gene Smith.
The Kickoff was highlighted by a food and drink paring compliments of Watershed Distillery and The Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill, while wine and spirits tasting stations were presented by Southern Wine and Spirits.
Former Buckeye Student-Athlete and Co-founder of Watershed, Greg Lehman, spoke about the development of his emerging micro-distillery. Lehman also provided insights into the impact philanthropic giving has on Ohio State’s student-athletes.
“Ohio State provided me the opportunity to earn a great education, while competing at the highest level,” said Lehman. “This was all made possible thanks to the support of people like you.”
With more than 540 members, generating an additional $400,000 in scholarships, the Buckeye Club’s 110%
Team was a huge success in its first year of existence. By increasing their gift commitment, these members have made a major impact on OSU Student-Athletes.
As the upcoming seasons approach, the Buckeye Club looks to you to help this impactful program grow. If every Buckeye Club member gives an additional 10%, we would be able to fund 49 additional Buckeye scholarships in 2012!
Thank you again to all 110% Team members!
