COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman LaToya Turner, a 6-4 center from Pickerington (Ohio) High School, will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Friday morning at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

The procedure, to help alleviate swelling in her left knee, will be performed by Dr. Chris Kaeding, chief orthopedic consultant to the Department of Athletics.

“LaToya has been progressing well,” Dr. Kaeding said. “This procedure will allow us to take a closer look and determine if there is anything more that can be done to help speed the recovery of the knee.

“I anticipate that she will require the use of crutches for one to two days and then resume her normal schedule of rehabilitation.”

Turner, a consensus prep all-American, first sustained injury to her anterior cruciate ligament in the WBCA All-Star Game in Hartford, Conn., in April. The initial surgery, also performed by Kaeding, occurred April 30.

The co-Ms. Basketball averaged 20.2 points and 10.6 rebounds for the national champion Lady Tigers last season who also claimed back-to-back state crowns.
