COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rising sophomore setter Christy Blough and the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team swept Puerto Rico in a straight-set victory to earn the bronze at the NORCECA U-21 Men’s Continental Championships in El Salvador.

Team USA’s top-three finish qualifies the Stars & Stripes for the 2015 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championships.

“The boys grew up a lot,” said Team USA head coach Dan Friend. “They only had 20 days together. We got hurt by injuries and one player got sick so it was very difficult. Third place is a very good finish for our team and our country. It gives us a lot of pride.”

Team USA advanced from pool play, taking two of three matches, before a 3-0 win over host El Salvador in the quarterfinals. A five-set defeat to Canada in the semifinals was then followed by Team USA’s sweep of Puerto Rico in the bronze medal match.
