PARK RIDGE, Ill. — The Dream Big Catch the Action Tour makes its fourth stop of the 2001/2002 campaign later this week in Columbus, spotlighting the Women’s Sports Foundation basketball tournament at the Value City Arena, December 14 and 15. Ohio State is the host university.

The Catch the Action Tour travels to Columbus to bring attention to the Big Ten Conference’s Dream Big initiative to promote young girls in sports. “This year more than ever we are reaching out at the grassroots level by taking Dream Big on the road,” said Andrea Williams, director of promotions for the Big Ten Conference. “Catch the Action allows us to reach young girls at schools, youth groups and clubs and encourage them to stay in sports for a healthier lifestyle.”

Dream Big is scheduled to visit the Salesian Boys & Girls Club/Helen S. Mason Unit on Wednesday, while the program will make stops at Westmoor Middles School in conjunction with the Girls Scouts and the Salesian Boys & Girls Club/St. John’s Extension on Thursday. Saturday morning, Dream Big visits the Westside Boys & Girls Club for their basketball clinic.

In addition to these stops, Dream Big will have a presence at the Women’s Sports Foundation Tournament. Those attending the games can learn more about the Dream Big program, pick up free merchandise, like T-shirts and sports towels and even pose for a slam dunk photo at the Dream Big booth.

Friday’s match-ups include Xavier (OH) vs. Colorado State at 6 p.m., while the Lady Buckeyes compete against Louisville at 8 p.m. The Dream Big booth will be open for game two Friday night and during part of the festivities Saturday night. The first 50 people to come to the Dream Big booth Friday receive a special Dream Big denim bag. Gates open at 5 p.m. both nights.
