COLUMBUS, Ohio. – Daniel Wetterich’s recent run of good play has been recognized by the Big Ten as the conference announced Wetterich as this week’s Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.

The Buckeye junior fired a career-low 8-under 63 in the second round of the Bearcat Invitational and would go on to finish in third place at 10-under par. The third place finish and his finish in relation to par were both career-bests.

Wetterich, who was playing in his hometown, carded 14 birdies and two eagles over the 54 holes and made nothing worse than a bogey. He finished the week with rounds of 69-63-71.

Over the first three events of the season, Wetterich has been under-par in all three and has posted rounds of par or better in seven of his eight rounds. He is a cumulative 16-under par and leads the team with a 69.38 scoring average.

Wetterich is the second Buckeye to earn Golfer of the Week honors this year as Caleb Ramirez took home the award on Sept. 6 for his play in the season-opening Carmel Cup.

The Buckeyes run of three tournaments in three weeks continues this weekend when they head to the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in North Plains, Ore.
