COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior goalkeeper Katie Baumgardner has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following a 1-0 shutout victory over Michigan State Friday, clinching a share of the first Big Ten championship in program history.

The award is the first of Baumgardner’s career as she made three saves to lower her season goals-against average to 0.81 and recorded the first shutout of her career.

The Buckeyes (14-4-1, 8-2-0 Big Ten) find out their NCAA tournament fate at 4:30 p.m. Monday when the selection show is televised live on ESPNU.
