COLUMBUS, Ohio – Severe weather in Central Ohio forced the cancellation of the Ohio State vs. Miami (Ohio) baseball game Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium. The teams were scoreless into the fourth inning and the home plate umpire pulled the teams off the field with one on and one out with Miami at the plate. Each team had three hits in a scoreless contest.

The 3,367 fans that were in attendance at the game may hold on to their ticket stub and use it for a future Ohio State baseball game later this season. The Buckeyes do not have a scheduled home game until May 20-22 when they play host to Minnesota in the final regular season games of 2005. The rainout puts Ohio State five games below the 56 allowed by the NCAA, so the Buckeyes will likely try to add a weekday game next week.

Ohio State returns to the diamond Friday through Sunday in a four-game Big Ten series at Northwestern. The teams open with a single game Friday at 4:05 p.m., EDT, and will play a doubleheader Saturday at 2:05 p.m. before concluding the series Sunday with a single game at 2:05 p.m. All four games will be on the Internet at www.wosu.org, while only the finale will be broadcast on NPR 820 (WOSU-AM).
