COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State and Eastern Michigan, teams that are each coming off hard-earned, series wins over first-place teams in their respective conferences, meet Tuesday at Bill Davis Stadium in a 12:05 p.m. game. The Buckeyes came from a game down to win its series with Illinois, 2-1, behind consecutive 16-hit games, including six doubles and four home runs, and 7.2 innings of effective relief. Eastern Michigan defeated Mid American Conference West leader Toledo, 2-1, winning the first and third games of the series.
GET READY FOR SOME NOISE
It is Columbus City School’s (CCS) Day Tuesday and Bill Davis Stadium will be filled – for half the game or so – with 2,600 sixth graders from 34 Columbus City Schools. The day includes an educational assembly at the Schottenstein Center. Ohio State, Columbus State and Columbus City Schools are partnering this year for CCS Day, designed to show young students the opportunities for and advantages of higher education and the importance of staying in school.

OHIO STATE VS. EASTERN MICHIGAN
Ohio State leads the all-time series with Eastern Michigan, 9-2, and has won four consecutive since a 2-1 loss in 2004 at Bill Davis Stadium, which has hosted all 11 games. EMU also won here in 2001, 10-7. Ohio State won last year, 15-12 in a wild one.
15-12 OHIO STATE WIN IN 2008
Ohio State surrendered a big lead but rallied late to defeat the Eagles, 15-12. Freshman Chris Griffin, in his first extensive playing time, had the go-ahead RBI with a bases-loaded, seventh inning single. It was Griffin’s first collegiate hit. Justin Miller led the way with four hits and three RBI. Eric Best got the win in relief and improved to 2-1. Alex Wimmers pitched the final two innings, striking out four, to earn his third save of the year.
NINE-RUN SECOND INNING
Ohio State scored a run in the first inning last year vs. EMU and added nine more in the second to build a 10-0 lead. Zach Hurley, Dan Burkhart and Tyler Engle all had two hits in the nine-run inning.
OHIO STATE TODAY
The Buckeyes’ 2-1 series win over Illinois leaves them and the Illini one-half game behind Minnesota. Ohio State will have an opportunity to win a Big Ten championship if it does its part this week against Iowa and gets some help from Penn State, which must beat Minnesota at least once for the Buckeyes to have a chance at a title.
